Good stuff Nick. I do wonder if you might enjoy blitz a little more if you use it as a tool to help learn your new opening repertoire. Then, at least, you'll be playing a brand of chess you're more comfortable with. I agree blitz can be a real emotional roller coaster. I think it helps a lot to take a little break between games.
I was using it as that previous to the 100 blitz challenge as it was similar. I cannot use it as a tool like others can. Simply another revelation. Good thoughts though.
I hate blitz chess haha. Robert Ramirez is awesome I love his videos and teaching style. He is up there with Dr. Can as two of my favorites and their teaching styles suit me.
Yes they are both super chill and quite practical with the advice they are handing out. I enjoy them both and highly recommend both NM Robert Ramirez and Dr. Can.
Not for me. Might be for some. I think people have some challenge adjusting to 3 days per move type of time control but like anything it becomes easier the more you do it.
Can Daily Games really be helpful for a Senior Adult Improver? 57, back to chess after 35+ years. I rather play classical OTB, but no strong chess club in proximity. Play online, but not my favorite. Online is more nerve wracking than OTB-for me. Just curious how “online Daily Games” can be helpful. I did the Blitz challenge and the same things happened to me, except worse because I’m northern as good as you. I’m just not fast enough and endgames are my Achilles heel…we’ll all parts of the game really-lol
Oh yes. Very much so. I use them a lot in my training. Slow chess is the best chess in my opinion. If OTB is out of the question for you then longer time control games are ideal. 45+45 or 60+5 are wonderful classical time controls to play. Lichess offers these up nicely. The quickest I would be playing would be 30+30 or longer honestly. Also if you found endgames are your Achilles Heel then it might be time for Silman;s Complete Endgame Course. A wonderful book to go through. And you only need to do it up to your level or one beyond honestly. Also if you want Correspondence game instruction and analysis consider signing up to become a member where we can play correspondence games together and I can analyze and annotate our games you will have in a study of your own to learn from each game.
I totally agree, I feel exactly the same.
Yeah it just doesn’t work for some of us.

I find daily/correspondence games are good for trying out openings
They are great for that. They are also great for all other aspects or the game as well.
Ditto
Is correspondence the same as daily games?
Correspondence = Daily and vice versa yes. Daily is the chess.com name for it.
It’s not too slow? And I like 30/45/60 times.

I know right?!? Can’t stand it.
